Purpose of Role: This position supports the R&D facilities and assists the scientist/engineer and technicians throughout. This position requires the ability to work in a variety of settings including analytical and process laboratories. Key skills include basic knowledge of OSHA regulations, GLP and chemical disposal practices. This position requires the incumbent to work closely with the facilities and analytical laboratory manager and R&D associates in the management of chemical inventories, laboratory supplies and general organization of the work areas.  Principal Accountabilities: Receive all chemicals and file MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) accordingly Enter chemicals into Chemwatch inventory Backpack system Maintains chemical Inventory stock and orders all chemicals for the Laboratory Maintains waste documents and storage area, monitors waste production i.e. types and quantities. Coordinates waste disposal pickup (Clean Harbors) Member of chemical release team for laboratory spills Coordinates and schedules laboratory repairs, calibrations and preventive maintenance on laboratory related equipment Works with commercial to determine service contracts annually Cleans and inspects all glassware and maintains inventory Maintains dishwashers and supplies Maintains all manuals for Analytical Instruments Ordering/Stocking of  all consumable supplies for laboratory Lab notebook assignment/sign-out Schedules calibration certification for balances, weights, freeze driers, NIR, Malvern rotovaps etc. and maintains records of such  Operating Environment and Guidance: Reports to the Analytical laboratory manager Complies with the Mars Symbioscience chemical hygiene plan and Good Laboratory Practices/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP/GLP) where applicable.  Mission Critical Competencies: Planning Action Oriented Informing Integrity and Trust Organizing Technical Learning Dealing with Ambiguity Learning on the Fly  Key Experiences: Experience working in a lab/quality control environment is a plus Experience working in a fast-paced environment is required  Key Functional Skills/Knowledge: Ability to work with little supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills Basic mathematical and computer skills required Basic knowledge of Chemical waste disposal Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
