Senior Technical Support Engineer

Intermedia.NET is looking for experienced technical support engineer(s) who are highly skilled in both e-mail and phone technical support. We are looking for people who will be able to focus on supporting either our web hosting or Exchange hosting solutions as a primary product and will have the ability to cross train so that the engineer(s) will be able to support both our Web and Microsoft Exchange hosting customers.

The Technical Support Engineer will work closely with all members of the Technical Support Team and System Administrators to answer, escalate and resolve customer issues. This position will need to provide quality service with exemplary professionalism in a technical environment. The best candidate will have the ability to learn quickly and absorb large amounts of information. Only highly enthusiastic, positive minded individuals need apply.

Essential requirements include excellent written and verbal communication skills, self-motivation, dependability, flexibility, outgoing and friendly attitude, and the ability to communicate technical issues to the expert as well as the layperson.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge of and experience with most of the following technologies:

Microsoft Windows (95/98/XP/NT/2000/2003) Operating Systems

Working Knowledge of Domain Names System (Windows DNS, BIND)

TCP/IP Networking

Basic Internet Routing (troubleshooting backbone issues)

Basic Mail server functionality (Rockliffe, Qmail, Postfix, Exchange)

POP3 and IMAP e-mail clients (MS Outlook, Outlook Express, Entourage, Eudora, etc.)

Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills a must

Excellent written/oral communication skills

Flexibility to react quickly to a fast-paced and fluid environment

Previous technical support in a call center environment

Bachelor’s Degree, Microsoft or similar certification, or equivalent experience

Web TSE

Web and FTP servers functionality and administration (MS IIS4/5/6, Apache)

Experience with HTTP, FTP, and E-mail protocols and settings

Familiarity with one or more Web scripting engines (ASP, ColdFusion, Perl, PHP, Python, JSP)

Basic understanding of Relational databases (MS SQL, MySQL, MS Access)

Exchange TSE

1. Familiarity with Windows Active Directory

2. Familiarity with Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003

3. Familiarity with a Wireless Email Solution (Blackberry, GoodLink, ActiveSync, etc.)

4. General understanding of Outlook profile creation

Knowledge of the following technologies is a plus

Microsoft SharePoint Team Services and SharePoint Services

Experience with complex web and database servers’ configurations (load balancing, clustering, etc.)

Linux, FreeBSD Operating Systems

MAC Operating Systems (OS 9 and 10)

Experience with complex web and database servers’ configurations (load balancing, clustering, etc.)

Experience with Microsoft FrontPage and Visual Studio

Administration of ColdFusion and the ability to troubleshoot scripts

Experience with Miva Merchant

Knowledge of Spam filtering (iHateSpam!, Spam Assassin)

Responsibilities

- Answer incoming technical support calls and e-mails

- Create test cases to verify and reproduce issues

- Handling of escalated issues

- Illustrate proper usage of multiple features

- Knowledge Base updating, clarification, article prep

- Handling and processing SPAM complaints and copyright complaints

This is a full time perm position located in Sunnyvale, CA. Must have flexibility to substitute morning/evening/weekend shifts if necessary. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM PST. Various shifts are available and subject to change.
